The number of submissions has decreased due, no doubt, to everyone having better things to do during the warm weather than sit at their computers. Unless your piece is extremely time-sensitive, it might be held in reserve for a day or two in order to spread posts out over the week. So, again, please be patient and don't re-submit it. Have fun outside, and don't forget the sun-block.

In an effort to accommodate the increased variety of submissions, this is the new game-plan to organize story posts:
Current events and general news stories will run during the week. (Please remember: Parody news stories should follow rules of basic journalism - keep them short and to the point, and don't interject editorial remarks.) Depending on the number of submissions, your story might not be posted immediately, so please be patient and don't re-submit it.
Longer material ("bloggy" stuff like first-person narratives, thought pieces, etc.) will run on weekends when people have more than a lunchtime to surf the internet. "Literary" submissions (i.e., fiction) will be featured on Sundays with a "Sunday Reader" prefix in the headline.
All text stories that run on The Specious Report are picked up by Google News, and many are submitted to humor link propagators and other sites. But you are encouraged to take your own initiative and promote your stuff by posting links in appropriate newsgroups and discussion boards. And, of course, tell all your friends. ;o)
And finally, please take a minute to write something for your user profile. There are still a lot of empty pages, and that's no fun...
