ABC Taps Alex Jones To Replace Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel cancelled

Burbank, CA — Disney's American Broadcasting Company has announced the popular podcast Info Wars with Alex Jones will inherit the hour once held by Jimmy Kimmel Live. The decision to shelve Kimmel came in response to what FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called Kimmel's "truly sick" malicious lies.

During discussions with Chairman Carr, the Texas-based conglomerate Nexstar, owner of numerous ABC affiliates, said that it would preempt the late night talk show “for the foreseeable future” or until a permanent replacement was found. That's when Carr suggested Jones, also based in Texas, would be perfect to fill the time slot. Nexstar recently announced plans to acquire a rival company in a $6.2 billion deal, which must be scrutinized by the FCC.

ABC Executives were reportedly called into Carr's office where he announced, "Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way." They were then strongly encouraged to drop their trousers, bend over and grab their ankles.

This shake-up comes just days after CBS announced they would not renew Stephen Colbert's contract for the long-running Late Show in order to fast-track the FCC's approval of parent company Paramount's merger with Skydance, headed by President Trump ally David Ellison. CBS plans to air a weekend telethon hosted by Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade to raise donations for his Involuntary Lethal Injection Foundation.

NBC has followed suit, dropping The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers and replacing them with reruns of the popular 1960s variety show, Hee Haw.
